Nine Tethered Technicians Complete Intensive Volunteer Training to Serve Local Communities

Hand Up Housing is proud to announce the successful wrap-up of our latest Tethered Technician (T3) training course, culminating in the graduation of nine dedicated community members. Over the last three weeks, these volunteers completed 12 hours of in-depth training designed to equip them with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to engage directly with those experiencing street homelessness in Madison County.

Previous sessions, participants focused on the critical areas of documentation and communication. They learned how to assist with IDs, navigate the nuances of obtaining birth certificates from various states, and record meaningful interaction notes that can help identify patterns and needs over time. These skills are vital for supporting individuals with dignity and consistency.

In our final class, we emphasized applying outreach skills in the field, reviewing safety basics, and preparing their outreach bags with donated wound care packs provided by the Madison County Health Department. These thoughtful donations ensure our volunteers are equipped to meet both relational and practical needs.

We thank these nine individuals for their commitment to learning and service. As Tethered Technicians, they are now stepping into their next phase: boots-on-the-ground outreach to encampments and vulnerable areas across the region. This group is ready—and eager—to serve.

Tethered Technicians are 100% volunteer-based, and their work is essential to our mission of ending street homelessness in Madison County. We’re excited to see the lasting impact they will make, and we look forward to watching this team grow in the months to come.

We Urgently Need Your Support to Keep This Going

The Tethered Technician Training program is more than a class-it’s a vital step toward ending street homelessness with compassion, education, and real human connection. But we can’t do it alone. In order to continue offering this program throughout 2025 and expand its impact, we urgently need your support. Your donation helps cover training, materials, outreach coordination, and continued support for both participants and those they serve.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO DANI ROBINETTE, OUR T3 INSTRUCTOR

We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dani Robinette for leading and certifying nine incredible volunteers through our Tethered Technician Team Member Training. Her guidance, dedication, and expertise were instrumental in preparing these individuals to serve on the front lines of outreach. We're grateful for Dani's continued leadership and the impact she's making in our mission to end street homelessness.
