Every Step Counts: Ending Street Homelessness Together

mbugger

As we continue developing the Tethered Technician educational course, we want to take a moment to thank you for supporting our mission to end street homelessness in Madison County. While we’re not yet ready to share full details about the program, we’re making meaningful progress toward providing comprehensive support and sustainable solutions for those living on the streets.

What Is Street Homelessness?

Street homelessness goes beyond the absence of a permanent address. It affects individuals living without shelter—whether sleeping in parks, cars, or public spaces. Solving this issue requires more than offering just a job (and it’s important to recognize that employment alone isn’t a guaranteed solution—many individuals experiencing homelessness are working but still unable to secure stable housing). This challenge involves more than employment; it’s about providing access to safe shelter, critical resources, and meaningful community connections.

We’ve also received feedback, including concerns like, “Why don’t they just get a job? I’m a taxpaying citizen.” While this question is often asked, the reality is that holding a job doesn’t always mean someone can afford housing—especially when dealing with systemic barriers such as rising housing costs, health issues, or lack of access to supportive services.

At Hand Up Housing, we focus on creating long-term pathways to stability and dignity through programs like Tethered Technician—offering comprehensive support, not just temporary fixes.

Why Your Support Matters?

Every action you take—whether it’s spreading awareness, making a donation, or engaging with our events—brings us closer to ending street homelessness in Madison County. Your support empowers us to provide vital resources, foster community connections, and help individuals build lasting foundations for their futures.

Thank you for continuing to walk this journey with us. We’ll share more updates soon as we move forward in creating real, lasting change.

With gratitude,

The Team at Hand Up Housing NFP
